MANILA — The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) announced on Monday that 24/7 clearing operations are ongoing on 30 national road sections in Luzon and Mindanao, which remain impassable due to the effects of Super Typhoon Uwan. The public is advised to use alternate routes while operations continue.
Affected roads include key sections in the Cordillera Administrative Region, Bicol, Central Luzon, Cagayan Valley, and Mindanao. Among the most impacted are the Conner-Kabugao Road in Apayao, the Baguio-Bontoc Road in Benguet, and various sections of the Maharlika Highway in Camarines Norte and Sur. The DPWH reported landslides, soil and rock collapses, fallen trees, and flooding as the main causes of road blockages.
Several road sections have limited access. For example, parts of the Urdaneta-Dagupan-Lingayen Road in Pangasinan and Lemery-Taal Diversion Road in Batangas are passable only to heavy vehicles, while certain roads in Camarines Sur and Southern Leyte are limited to light vehicles due to debris and bridge damage.
“The Department advises the public to use alternate routes while clearing operations are ongoing,” the DPWH statement read.
Motorists are urged to stay updated on road conditions and coordinate with local authorities for safe travel until full restoration of affected routes.
