MANILA — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) said voter registration for the first Bangsamoro parliamentary elections has surpassed its target, reaching more than 161,000 applicants.

Data shared by the poll body showed that a total of 161,429 individuals registered as of the March 31 deadline, exceeding the agency’s goal of 150,000 new voters. Of the total, 78,972 were female and 82,457 were male.

Lanao del Sur recorded the highest number of registrants at 50,918, including 454 applicants processed through the Register Anywhere Program (RAP) sites.

This was followed by Maguindanao del Norte with 31,666 registrants, Maguindanao del Sur with 26,175, and Basilan with 21,734.

The Special Geographic Area in Cotabato posted 16,505 registrants, while Tawi-Tawi had the lowest turnout at 14,431, including 623 who registered through RAP sites.

Comelec resumed voter registration in the Bangsamoro region on February 9. Initially set to end on March 30, the registration period was extended by one day to March 31, 2026.
