MANILA — Pop star Ariana Grande has confirmed the release of her eighth studio album, titled Petal, after weeks of teasing fans online.

The singer revealed the album through an Instagram post featuring its cover art and release date, set for July 31.

“Petal” is scheduled to arrive in the middle of Grande’s Eternal Sunshine Tour, her first tour in seven years, which promotes her previous albums Positions and Eternal Sunshine, and is expected to include tracks from the upcoming record.

The black-and-white album artwork shows Grande without her signature ponytail, hinting at a possible new artistic direction.

A countdown page on Spotify suggests that the album will feature around 12 tracks. In a statement, Grande described the project as “something that is full of life and growing through the cracks of something cold and hard and challenging.”

The album also marks a renewed collaboration with producer Ilya Salmanzadeh, who previously worked with Grande on “Eternal Sunshine,” which included singles such as Yes, And?, We Can’t Be Friends (Wait For Your Love), and The Boy Is Mine.

Grande is known for a string of hit songs including Thank U Next, 7 Rings, Positions, Dangerous Woman, Into You, Side to Side, No Tears Left to Cry, POV, Stuck With U, Love Me Harder, One Last Time, and Break Free.

Beyond music, Grande gained prominence as an actress in the TV show Victorious and the Wicked films. She is also set to appear in Focker-in-Law and the 13th season of American Horror Story.
