MANILA — The Philippine Deposit Insurance Corporation said its nationwide survey on public awareness and reputation has been cleared by the Philippine Statistics Authority, confirming compliance with national statistical standards.

In a news release, the PDIC said the PSA approved the registration of its Nationwide Public Awareness and Reputation Survey (NPARS) under the Statistical Survey Review and Clearance System (SSRCS), a mechanism used to evaluate government-sponsored statistical surveys.

The clearance indicates that the survey’s design and methodology meet established statistical requirements, the agency said.

The NPARS aims to assess public awareness of the PDIC and deposit insurance, as well as gauge public perception of the agency as a government financial institution. It will involve 1,500 adult respondents nationwide and will also identify common sources of information about deposit insurance.

“The PSA’s clearance for the NPARS is a welcome development for the PDIC,” said PDIC President and CEO Roberto B. Tan.

“This demonstrates that the Corporation upholds the highest level of transparency and integrity in our research initiatives. The results will be instrumental for PDIC to develop data-driven communication tools that would help the public better understand the role of PDIC and the importance of deposit insurance in protecting depositors’ hard-earned savings in banks,” Tan said.

The SSRCS was established by the PSA under Republic Act No. 10625, or the Philippine Statistical Act of 2013, to strengthen statistical work across government agencies.

The PDIC said obtaining SSRCS clearance enhances the credibility and reliability of survey results and is expected to improve public participation in future survey rounds.

Established in 1963 under Republic Act No. 3591, the PDIC is mandated to protect depositors and help maintain stability in the country’s financial system.
