MANILA — The camp of Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. said it remains in prayer as it awaits the resolution of his petition for bail in connection with a malversation case tied to a P92.8-million flood control project in Pandi, Bulacan.

“We’ll just have to wait and we’ll continue to pray,” Atty. Reody Balisi, Revilla’s counsel, told reporters on the sidelines of a court hearing for a separate graft case also linked to the same project.

In a report, it said that Revilla and six others are facing graft charges before the Sandiganbayan Fourth Division, while the malversation case is being heard by the Sandiganbayan Third Division.

Sandiganbayan Third Division chairperson Associate Justice Karl Miranda earlier said the court aimed to resolve the bail petition by May 6, 2026, or 30 days after the start of the bail hearings.

Only one accused in the malversation case, former Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Bulacan First District Engineering Office engineer JP Mendoza, did not file a petition for bail.

If the court grants bail, it will set the amount for the temporary liberty of the accused while the case is ongoing. If denied, the respondents will remain detained at the New Quezon City Jail for male accused and Camp Karingal for female accused.

‘No structure’ on project site

During an April 15 ocular inspection of the Pandi flood control project, prosecution witness DPWH Bulacan First District Engineering Office officer-in-charge Kenneth Fernando testified that the P92.8-million project showed no visible accomplishment on site.

“Definitely, there is no structure there. We don’t even know if those are really sheet piles or how long they are. It appears they were placed a long time ago because they are already rusting and the area is covered with heavy vegetation,” the prosecution said during the inspection.

Ombudsman prosecutors alleged that the government had already released up to P75 million to contractor Syms Construction despite the absence of any completed structure at the project site.
