MANILA — The Department of Energy (DOE) said the 13 renewable energy (RE) projects worth ₱344.62 billion certified under the government’s Green Lane initiative underscore the country’s growing transition toward cleaner and more sustainable energy sources.
In a statement, Energy Secretary Sharon Garin said the investments demonstrate strong investor confidence in the Philippines’ renewable energy sector.
“RE is not a side story in our economic growth, it is the headline,” Garin said.
“The PhP344.62 billion that investors are committing to RE under the Green Lane is proof that the Philippines is a destination for clean energy business, and that Filipino workers will be the first to benefit,” she added.
According to Garin, the expansion of solar, wind, hydro, and geothermal energy capacity will help power more communities while advancing the country’s goal of achieving energy independence.
She also said the government would continue coordinating with industry stakeholders to address bottlenecks that delay project implementation and ensure that the benefits of these investments reach Filipinos.
The Board of Investments (BOI) earlier reported that 13 renewable energy projects worth ₱344.62 billion received Green Lane certification during the first five months of 2026.
The project pipeline is expected to generate 38,716 direct jobs.
The DOE said the projects will play an important role in meeting the country’s rising electricity demand, noting that generating capacity must increase substantially in the coming years to support economic expansion and broader household electrification.
Since the implementation of Executive Order No. 18 in February 2023, the BOI has certified 237 projects valued at ₱6.32 trillion under the Green Lane initiative. These projects are projected to create 420,037 jobs.
Of the total certified projects, 182 are renewable energy developments accounting for ₱5.41 trillion in investments.
The DOE reiterated its commitment to achieving the country’s renewable energy targets of 35 percent by 2030 and 50 percent by 2040.
It added that it will continue working with government agencies, investors, and local communities to advance clean energy as a key component of the Philippines’ long-term economic and development agenda.
