MANILA — Young boxer Jimuel Pacquiao is set to marry his partner Carolina Pimentel, months after the couple welcomed their first child.
In a report, it said that reports of a family gathering this month surfaced after Jimuel’s parents, Jinkee Pacquiao and Manny Pacquiao, along with other relatives, flew to Los Angeles in the United States.
The trip also allowed Jimuel to reunite with his grandmother, Dionisia Pacquiao, marking their first meeting in five years. Dionisia also met her great-granddaughter Clara, who was born to Jimuel and Carolina last November.
Dionisia’s partner Mike Yamson and Jimuel’s sister Queenie Pacquiao later confirmed that a wedding was taking place. Yamson shared a video on Facebook on June 11 showing the Pacquiao family’s gathering in Los Angeles “para sa wedding ni Jimuel.”
Yamson and Jinkee also said the family was staying at Pechanga Resort Casino, where the wedding is expected to be held.
Former “Pinoy Big Brother” contestant Steve Jumalon, husband of Jinkee’s twin sister Janet, said the wedding is scheduled either on Saturday, June 13, or June 14 in Philippine time.
Queenie Pacquiao expressed emotional support for her brother ahead of the ceremony in an interview with sports journalist Dyan Castillejo.
“I’m genuinely very happy for him. I’m glad to see that he’s starting a new chapter in his life,” Queenie said, sharing that she also had a dress ready. “I think I’ll be crying… I feel emotional when I see my brothers… like we’ll never be kids again.”
She also said she is excited to meet Clara again, noting that the last time she saw Jimuel, Carolina was still pregnant.
It remains uncertain whether Jimuel’s brother, General Santos City councilor Michael Pacquiao, will attend the wedding, as he is currently overseeing relief operations following a magnitude 7.8 earthquake in Mindanao earlier this week.
Manny and Jinkee also have two other children, Princess and Israel. Manny also has another son, Eman Bacosa, from a previous relationship.
