MANILA — American YouTube content creator Jimmy Donaldson, better known as MrBeast, has reached a new milestone on the platform after becoming the first individual creator to hit 500 million subscribers.
In a report, it said that it has been two years since MrBeast became the most-followed YouTuber and just under a few years after he first became the most-subscribed individual creator.
Videos that helped drive his subscriber growth include “$456,000 Squid Game In Real Life!,” “50 YouTubers Fight for $1,000,000,” and the recently released “50 Streamers Fight for $1,000,000” in April.
More than 600,000 viewers tuned in to MrBeast’s livestream as his channel crossed the milestone, where he celebrated with confetti before addressing his audience.
“I just want to take this moment to inspire some of you, because if you don’t like the position you’re in, hopefully this could give you the fire to try something out. It was a lot of work to get to this point,” he said. “Go chase your dreams, and you can do it. I’m grateful for every single one of you that is subscribed to this channel.”
Days later, YouTube chief executive officer Neal Mohan presented MrBeast with a customized 500M Play Button featuring a silver, diamond-textured base and a 3D design incorporating his Beast Panther logo.
“This achievement is a testament to what’s possible when a creator has the freedom to follow their creativity and be their authentic selves,” Mohan said. “Jimmy, you are an incredible innovator and we’re so proud to be part of your journey.”
MrBeast later shared a photo of his new trophy alongside his previous milestone awards.
YouTube channels trailing MrBeast in subscriber count include India’s “T-Series” with 312 million subscribers and “Cocomelon” with 201 million subscribers.
