MANILA — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) will conduct a plebiscite on July 25 in five barangays in Parañaque City to update the city’s territorial boundaries.

In Resolution No. 11231, the Comelec en banc said the plebiscite will cover Barangays Baclaran, Tambo, Don Galo, La Huerta, and San Dionisio, including reclaimed areas along Manila Bay.

According to the poll body, the exercise seeks to implement Parañaque City Ordinance No. 2023-19, which adopts the “Straight Line Policy” in determining the city’s amended territorial boundaries.

The plebiscite period began on June 25 and will remain in effect until Aug. 1.

During the period, the Comelec reminded the public that the carrying, bearing, or transport of firearms and other deadly weapons is prohibited without proper authorization.

“It is strictly prohibited to carry guns or other deadly weapons in Barangays Baclaran, Tambo, Don Galo, La Huerta, and San Dionisio without a Certificate of Authority (gun ban exemption),” the Comelec said.

The poll body added that checkpoints have been established in the five barangays in coordination with the Philippine National Police.
