MANILA – The Philippine Deposit Insurance Corporation (PDIC) has concluded the nationwide observance of the 24th Depositor Protection and Awareness Week (DPAW), highlighting the importance of financial literacy, depositor confidence, and saving in banks.
Held from June 16 to 22, this year’s campaign carried the theme, “Kapag sa bangko may ipon, handa anumang panahon,” emphasizing the value of keeping savings in banks to help individuals and families prepare for emergencies while working toward long-term financial goals.
To broaden the campaign’s reach, the PDIC partnered with banks, banking associations, government agencies, and private sector organizations to distribute DPAW information materials through digital platforms, social media channels, and office premises.
The Philippine Information Agency also supported the campaign through text blasts that helped deliver DPAW messages to millions of Filipinos across the country.
As part of the observance, the PDIC published a series of feature articles highlighting how bank savings can help people manage emergencies, unexpected expenses, education, business ventures, and retirement. The articles were carried on the online platforms of national and local media organizations to encourage responsible saving as a lifelong financial habit.
The corporation also introduced its first digital magazine dedicated to DPAW, which is available on the PDIC website. The publication contains messages from President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Governor Eli M. Remolona Jr., Finance Secretary Frederick D. Go, and leaders of various banking associations, along with articles promoting financial preparedness and resilience.
The PDIC likewise expanded its online information campaign through a special DPAW edition of its “Patanong sa PDIC. Sagot ni POLA!” social media series. The campaign provided information on Depositor Protection and Awareness Week, deposit insurance, and responsible saving practices through POLA, the corporation’s AI-powered online assistant.
According to the PDIC, the successful conclusion of this year’s DPAW reflects the continued collaboration between the corporation and its partners to promote financial awareness, strengthen depositor confidence, encourage responsible banking, and support the stability of the Philippine banking system.
The annual observance of Depositor Protection and Awareness Week is mandated under Presidential Proclamation No. 358, issued in 2003 to reinforce public trust in the banking system, promote financial literacy, and contribute to the stability of the country’s financial sector.
