MANILA — The trough of a low pressure area (LPA) and the Southwest Monsoon will bring cloudy skies, scattered rains and thunderstorms over several parts of Luzon in the next 24 hours, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Saturday.

PAGASA, in its 4 a.m. weather forecast, said the LPA trough is affecting the western section of Northern Luzon, while the Southwest Monsoon is affecting Central and Southern Luzon.

Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Isabela, Quirino and Nueva Vizcaya will experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the LPA trough.

Metro Manila, Central Luzon, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA and Bicol Region will also have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the Southwest Monsoon.

PAGASA warned that moderate to at times heavy rains in these areas may trigger flash floods or landslides.

The rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms caused by localized thunderstorms. Flash floods or landslides are possible during severe thunderstorms.

In extreme Northern Luzon, winds will be light to moderate and generally from the northeast to east, with coastal waters ranging from slight to moderate at 0.6 to 2.1 meters.

The rest of Luzon will experience light to moderate winds from the southwest to southeast, with coastal waters at 0.6 to 1.5 meters.

In the Visayas and Mindanao, winds will be light to moderate from the northwest to northeast, with coastal waters at 0.6 to 1.2 meters.

For Metro Manila, the minimum temperature recorded in the past 24 hours was 24.7°C at 6 a.m., while the maximum temperature was 30.1°C at noon.

Minimum relative humidity was 62 percent at noon, while maximum relative humidity was 96 percent at 7 a.m.

The sun is expected to rise at 5:45 a.m. and set at 6 p.m. The moon will rise at 6:28 a.m. and set at 6:42 p.m., with 2 percent illumination.
