MANILA — Work in all agencies and instrumentalities of the national government will be suspended starting 1 p.m. on Sept. 28, 2026, in observance of the 34th National Family Week.

Under Memorandum Circular No. 136 signed by Acting Executive Secretary Ralph G. Recto on Sept. 16 but only released Thursday, the suspension covers government-owned or -controlled corporations (GOCCs) and state universities and colleges.

The directive was issued pursuant to Proclamation No. 60, series of 1992, which declared the last week of September every year as Family Week, and Proclamation No. 326, series of 2012, which declared the fourth Monday of September as “Kainang Pamilya Mahalaga” Day.

Agencies tasked with delivering basic and health services, disaster and calamity preparedness or response, and other vital services will continue operating and providing necessary services.

Executive branch employees are also encouraged to support programs and activities for the observance of the 34th National Family Week, as organized by the National Committee on the Filipino Family.

The circular likewise encourages other branches of government, independent commissions and bodies, and the private sector to suspend work to give Filipino families the opportunity to observe the occasion.

The circular takes effect immediately.
