MANILA—Sen. Robinhood “Robin” Padilla said Friday he has no plans to seek another political post, while naming six personalities he wants voters to consider as potential running mates of Vice President Sara Duterte.

In a statement, Padilla said he intends to step away from politics to focus on raising his young children and pursue what he described as a quiet Islamic life.

“Assalamu alaikum mga kababayan.Wala na po akong planong tumakbo sa pulitika. Maliliit pa ang aking mga anak, at isang tahimik na buhay-Islami ang aking pinapangarap at minimithi.”

Padilla then identified former senator Alan Peter Cayetano, Sen. Imee Marcos, Sen. Bong Go, Sen. Ronald dela Rosa, party-list lawmaker Rodante Marcoleta and former presidential spokesperson Salvador Panelo as his preferred choices for Duterte’s vice presidential running mate.

Sila po ang nais ko na pagpilian ninyo upang maging katandem ni Inday Sara.”

Padilla thanked supporters who have urged him to remain in politics but said he believes he does not fit in the political environment.

“Maraming salamat po sa napakaraming kaibigan na nagtutulak sa aking pananatili sa pulitika, pero halata naman po na hindi ako nababagay sa mundong ito.”

He ended his statement with a quotation: “Revolutionaries do not sit on thrones; they tear them down”
