MANILA – Parts of the Visayas and Mindanao will experience cloudy skies, scattered rains and thunderstorms on Thursday due to the trough of Tropical Storm Surigae, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.

Biliran, Leyte, Southern Leyte, Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte, and Surigao del Sur may experience moderate to at times heavy rains, which could trigger flash floods or landslides.

The Bicol Region and the rest of Eastern Visayas will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms. Severe thunderstorms may also cause flash floods or landslides.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms due to localized thunderstorms, PAGASA said.

As of 3 a.m., Surigae was outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility, located 1,500 kilometers east of Northern Luzon.

The tropical storm was packing maximum sustained winds of 75 kph near the center, with gusts of up to 90 kph, and was moving west-northwestward at 30 kph.

Meanwhile, northern and eastern Luzon will experience light to moderate winds from the east to northeast, with coastal waters ranging from 0.6 to 2.1 meters.

The Visayas, Mindanao and eastern Southern Luzon will have light to moderate winds from the northeast to northwest, with coastal waters of 0.6 to 1.8 meters.

The rest of Luzon will experience light to moderate winds with variable directions and coastal waters ranging from 0.6 to 1.2 meters.
