MANILA – Sen. Panfilo “Ping” Lacson told Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano that he is not alone in facing scrutiny over alleged anomalies in flood control projects.

Lacson said Cayetano, who has called for investigations into flood control projects outside Taguig, is among several personalities who have been detained, released on bail, or are being investigated over alleged irregularities.

“Kaya nga po may mga nakakulong, out on bail, at marami pang iniimbestigahan ang Ombudsman dahil sa maanomalyang flood control projects sa iba’t-ibang panig ng bansa, kasama ang Taguig at Davao. Huwag nang maghanap ng idadamay, madami kayo,” Lacson said on X.

Cayetano had recently said in livestream posts that Taguig should not be the only area investigated over alleged anomalous infrastructure projects.

The Office of the Ombudsman has been investigating alleged irregularities in flood control projects in various parts of the country, including Taguig City, Cayetano’s political bailiwick.

Lacson has also raised allegations involving flood control projects in other areas. In two privilege speeches, he detailed alleged anomalies in projects in Bulacan and Oriental Mindoro and later chaired Blue Ribbon Committee hearings on the issue.

Earlier this year, Lacson and his staff submitted at least 45 case studies to the Ombudsman, backed by official documents, involving what they described as “systemic anomalies” in flood control projects in Taguig.

His team also submitted evidence concerning alleged illegal reclamation and infrastructure projects on the Taguig side of Laguna Lake.
