MANILA— The Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over parts of the country on Friday, while the northeasterly windflow will affect the eastern sections of Northern and Central Luzon, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.

In its 24-hour public weather forecast issued at 4 a.m. Friday, PAGASA said the ITCZ is affecting Visayas, Mindanao and Palawan, while the northeasterly windflow is affecting the eastern portions of Northern and Central Luzon.

Bicol Region, Eastern Visayas, Quezon, Marinduque and Romblon will experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the trough of a low pressure area.

Moderate to at times heavy rains in these areas may trigger flash floods or landslides.

Mindanao, the rest of Visayas and Palawan will also have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the ITCZ, with possible flash floods or landslides from moderate to at times heavy rainfall.

Cagayan Valley, Apayao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Ifugao and Aurora will have cloudy skies with rains due to the northeasterly windflow. Similar weather-related hazards may occur due to moderate to at times heavy rains.

Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms caused by localized thunderstorms. Severe thunderstorms may trigger flash floods or landslides.

Meanwhile, moderate to strong winds from the northeast are expected over Northern Luzon and the eastern section of Central Luzon, where coastal waters will be moderate to rough at 2.1 to 3.1 meters.

The rest of Luzon will experience light to moderate winds from the northeast to east, with slight to moderate coastal waters at 0.6 to 2.5 meters.

Visayas will have light to moderate winds from the northeast to northwest, with coastal waters ranging from 0.6 to 2.1 meters.

Mindanao will also experience light to moderate winds, this time from the northwest to southwest, with coastal waters at 0.6 to 2.1 meters.

Over Metro Manila, temperatures during the 24-hour period ending at 8 p.m. Thursday ranged from 24.9°C to 29.5°C, while relative humidity ranged from 74% to 94%.

The sun rose at 5:47 a.m. Friday and is expected to set at 5:40 p.m. The moon rose at 4:18 a.m. and is expected to set at 4:38 p.m., with 2% illumination.

PAGASA advised the public to monitor its latest weather updates through its official website and other information channels.
