MANILA— Light Rail Manila Corporation (LRMC), the private operator of Light Rail Transit Line 1 (LRT-1), is implementing station improvements at the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) to ease passenger congestion and improve access to ticketing services.

The initiatives, being carried out in coordination with the Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) and the Department of Transportation (DOTr), include adding ticket counters, relocating ticket-vending machines and reconfiguring turnstile gates to improve passenger movement.

LRMC said the additional ticket counters would increase capacity for commuters purchasing Single Journey Tickets (SJTs) and reloading Stored Value Cards (SVCs).

The company is also repositioning ticket-vending machines to better accommodate passenger volumes and provide additional options for buying tickets and topping up stored-value cards.

Turnstile gates will likewise be reconfigured and relocated to streamline queues for passengers entering station platforms and those alighting from arriving trains.

LRMC and its government partners are targeting the full implementation of the improvements within the fourth quarter of 2026.

While the permanent upgrades are underway, the company is setting up satellite ticket booths at LRT-1 PITX Station to assist commuters and reduce queues during peak periods.

An express lane for SVC users with sufficient load balance will also remain operational, while regular lanes will continue serving passengers purchasing SJTs and reloading their cards.

LRMC is also coordinating with PITX management to strengthen operational coordination and improve transfers between bus and rail services.

LRMC President and CEO Enrico R. Benipayo said the initiatives reflect the company’s efforts to improve commuters’ daily travel experience through immediate measures and longer-term station upgrades.

“Our commitment to our commuters goes beyond providing safe and reliable transport; it is about continuously elevating every aspect of their journey. By collaborating closely with our grantors at the DOTr and the LRTA, as well as our partners at PITX, we are introducing proactive, practical solutions at LRT-1 PITX Station. Whether through immediate deployment like satellite booths or long-term optimizations, we remain dedicated to delivering a seamless, efficient, and comfortable travel experience for the commuting public,” Benipayo said.
