MANILA— Vice President Sara Duterte still has P463 million in alleged unexplained wealth to account for even if financial interests linked to companies associated with her and her husband are excluded, House impeachment prosecution spokesperson Zia Alonto Adiong said.

At a press briefing, the Lanao del Sur 1st District representative said the amount showed that the prosecution’s allegations did not rely solely on the financial records of the companies.

“Just to be fair, tanggalin na po natin ’yung corporate veil theory. Wala na ’yung corporation, corporate income. Meron pang 463 million pesos,” Alonto Adiong said.

The P463,046,459 represents part of the P817.87 million in alleged undeclared assets and unexplained wealth identified by forensic accounting expert Alexander Cabrera for the 2022 to 2025 period.

Cabrera’s findings included P207.70 million in allegedly undeclared bank balances, P143.50 million in other assets and properties, and P111.85 million in allegedly undeclared income.

The remaining P354.83 million involved financial interests attributed to Metro City Chow Foods Corp., GenCorp Industries Inc. and Cale88 Foods Corp. The prosecution excluded these interests from the reduced amount.

Alonto Adiong said the figures warranted scrutiny when compared with Duterte’s declared net worth and reported income.

Records presented during the impeachment trial showed that Duterte’s declared net worth rose from P7.25 million in 2007 to P98.66 million in 2025, an increase of P91.41 million.

Bureau of Internal Revenue records, meanwhile, indicated that Duterte and her husband, lawyer Manases “Mans” Carpio, had a combined net income after taxes of P85.34 million from 2007 to 2025.

The prosecution also cited Duterte’s Statements of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth (SALNs), which reportedly showed zero cash on hand and in banks from 2019 to 2025.

Cabrera, however, identified bank balances of P60.21 million in 2022, P80.70 million in 2023, P23.17 million in 2024 and P43.61 million in 2025 that the prosecution said were not declared.

The prosecution further questioned a reported P111.85-million gap between Duterte’s declared income of P63.11 million and bank inflows totaling P174.96 million from 2022 to 2025.

“Hindi lang ho ito issue ng non-disclosure or unexplained wealth. This is also an issue of tax evasion,” Alonto Adiong said.

He said the discrepancy raised questions about whether Duterte had accurately reported her income and paid the appropriate taxes.

Alonto Adiong called on the vice president to explain the sources of the funds and why they were allegedly absent from her declarations.

“Madam Vice President, saan po nanggaling itong mga income na ito na hindi niyo po naideklara sa inyong SALN? Saan po nanggaling ito? At paano po kayo naka-accumulate ng ganitong kahalagang pera?” he added.

Duterte has denied wrongdoing, while her lawyers have challenged the prosecution’s evidence.

The House prosecution has retained only Article II, which concerns allegations of unexplained wealth. The defense is scheduled to begin presenting its evidence on November 9.
