MANILA – The Bureau of Customs (BOC) has engaged Nike Southeast Asia in a collaborative dialogue aimed at strengthening border protection and intellectual property enforcement, as part of efforts to intensify action against illicit trade.

The engagement reflects the push of BOC Commissioner Ariel F. Nepomuceno for stronger customs enforcement through improved intelligence sharing and anti-illicit trade coordination.

Discussions focused on emerging trends in counterfeit trade, including the increasing use of e-commerce platforms and the movement of goods from ports to inland warehouses.

The BOC emphasized its continued enforcement operations against counterfeit products and welcomed Nike Southeast Asia’s commitment to provide actionable information to support intelligence-driven initiatives.

Nike Southeast Asia also expressed readiness to expand cooperation with the agency through information sharing, technical assistance, and capacity-building programs to further enhance enforcement capabilities.

Both sides said the strengthened partnership supports broader government efforts in line with the vision of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to improve trade regulation and enforcement systems.
