MANILA — The Senate will resume its investigation into the alleged flood control scandal on June 4 after a subcommittee was formed to continue the hearings, Senate President Alan Peter Cayetano said.
In a media report, it said that Cayetano said Senator Rodante Marcoleta has been tasked to issue the notices on Monday, June 1, for the continuation of the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee hearings scheduled on Thursday.
“We finished a caucus over lunch, and we agree subject to some minor discussion… that a subcommittee will be formed for the flood control, and Senator Marcoleta will issue the notices on Monday to continue on sa Thursday the flood control scam hearings,” he said in a Facebook live.
Cayetano said the flood control investigation is among the Senate’s top priorities, alongside issues related to the economic situation and the impeachment of Vice President Sara Duterte.
The development follows the earlier suspension of the Blue Ribbon Committee hearings on the controversy, after then-chairperson Sen. Panfilo Lacson halted proceedings pending sufficient support from committee members to sponsor and present a partial report.
In April, Lacson said the hearings would remain suspended until at least nine committee members sign the report.
He later reported that seven senators had signed the partial report, including Senators Vicente “Tito” Sotto III, Bam Aquino, Risa Hontiveros, Erwin Tulfo, and Kiko Pangilinan, alongside Lacson.
Lacson earlier warned that the partial report could be archived if the required signatures are not completed before the 20th Congress adjourns sine die on June 5, 2026.
