MANILA — The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is set to file another case before the Office of the Ombudsman against several individuals, including a so-called “big fish,” in connection with the ongoing flood control controversy.

Secretary Vince Dizon said the complaint will be filed on Thursday in Bulacan, although he declined to identify the respondents.

“There are more cases coming up. In fact, tomorrow, another one will be filed in Bulacan,” Dizon said in an interview during an inspection of the Matalahib Creek pumping station in Quezon City on Wednesday.

“Just wait to see who the big fish is. Just wait for tomorrow,” he added.

During the inspection, Dizon said flood mitigation and rehabilitation works at the creek were based on a drainage master plan submitted by the Quezon City government.

He said residents in the area had reported improvements following months of continuous flood control efforts.

“What they noticed was that (the flood) was not very high compared to before and it was going down quickly. But that doesn’t mean there won’t be flooding. There will still be flooding but our first objective is, hopefully it won’t be that high,” he said.

“We won’t stop, the President said, we’ll just keep going (rehabilitation efforts),” he added.
