MANILA — No Filipino nationals were among those killed or injured in a school shooting in Thailand that left seven people dead and scores injured on Friday, the Philippine Embassy in Thailand said.

The embassy said all eight registered Filipino teachers at Debsirin School Nonthaburi were safe, accounted for, and uninjured.

“The Philippine Embassy extends its deepest sympathies and heartfelt condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims, as well as to the entire school community and the Thai government following the tragic school shooting incident at Debsirin School Nonthaburi,” it said.

The embassy also prayed for the speedy and full recovery of those injured, saying the Philippines stood in solidarity with Thailand during the tragedy.

It said it continues to monitor the situation and remains on standby to provide assistance to Filipino nationals who may need help.

Local reports said the shooting began at around 10:12 a.m. (3:12 a.m. GMT) on the sixth floor of Building 5 of the school.

Police identified the suspected shooter as a student at the school. He reportedly turned the gun on himself following the attack and later died.
