MANILA — The southwest monsoon or habagat will continue to affect Luzon, bringing occasional to scattered rains and thunderstorms over several areas, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Wednesday.

Zambales will experience occasional rains due to the southwest monsoon, with possible flash floods or landslides as moderate to heavy rains may occur.

Meanwhile, Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, the rest of Central Luzon, Cavite, Batangas, Rizal, Occidental Mindoro, Palawan and Antique will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms.

PAGASA warned of possible flash floods and landslides in these areas due to moderate to at times heavy rainfall.

The rest of Luzon and Western Visayas will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms. Similar conditions are expected over the rest of the country due to localized thunderstorms.

PAGASA also forecast moderate to strong southwest winds over Luzon and the western section of Visayas, with coastal waters expected to be moderate to rough, with waves reaching 1.5 to 3.4 meters.

The rest of the country will have light to moderate winds from the south to southwest, with slight to moderate seas ranging from 0.6 to 2.1 meters.

PAGASA advised the public to remain alert for possible flash floods and landslides, particularly in areas experiencing moderate to heavy rainfall.
