MANILA – The southwest monsoon is expected to bring monsoon rains over Zambales and occasional rains over parts of Luzon on Thursday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.

In its 24-hour public weather forecast issued at 4 a.m., PAGASA said Zambales will experience monsoon rains due to the southwest monsoon, with possible flash floods or landslides due to heavy to intense rains.

Metro Manila, the rest of Central Luzon, Pangasinan, La Union, Benguet, Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino, Rizal, Cavite, Batangas, Oriental Mindoro, and Occidental Mindoro will have occasional rains caused by the southwest monsoon.

The weather agency warned of possible flash floods or landslides in these areas due to moderate to heavy rains.

The Visayas, the rest of Luzon, Zamboanga Peninsula, and Northern Mindanao will experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the southwest monsoon. Moderate to at times heavy rains may trigger flash floods or landslides.

The rest of Mindanao will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms caused by localized thunderstorms. Flash floods or landslides are possible during severe thunderstorms.

For coastal areas, Northern Luzon will experience light to moderate winds blowing from the northeast to northwest, with coastal waters ranging from slight to moderate at 0.6 to 2.1 meters.

The Visayas and the rest of Luzon will have light to moderate southwest winds, with coastal waters at 0.6 to 2.1 meters.

Mindanao will experience light to moderate winds from the south to southwest, with coastal waters ranging from 0.6 to 1.8 meters.

For Metro Manila, sunrise is at 5:45 a.m. and sunset at 6:02 p.m. Thursday. Moonrise is at 4:40 a.m., while moonset is at 5:24 p.m., with the moon at 1 percent illumination.

During the 24-hour period ending at 8 p.m. Wednesday, the minimum temperature was 24.7 °C at 8 a.m., while the maximum temperature was 29.7 °C at 2 p.m.

Relative humidity ranged from a minimum of 66 percent at 3 p.m. to a maximum of 97 percent at 8 a.m.
