MANILA— Several areas in Luzon and the Visayas are expected to experience scattered rains and thunderstorms on Friday due to a shear line and the trough of a low-pressure area (LPA), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.
In its 4 a.m. weather forecast on October 30, PAGASA said the LPA was estimated at 585 kilometers east of Borongan City, Eastern Samar, as of 3 a.m.
Cagayan, Isabela, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, Aurora, and Quezon will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms due to the shear line affecting the eastern sections of Northern and Central Luzon.
Similar conditions are expected over the Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, Northern Mindanao, Caraga, and Palawan due to the LPA’s trough.
PAGASA warned that moderate to at times heavy rains in these areas could trigger flash floods or landslides.
The Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, and Batanes, meanwhile, will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains due to the northeast monsoon, with no significant impact expected.
Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms caused by localized thunderstorms. Severe thunderstorms could trigger flash floods or landslides, the agency said.
Super typhoon outside PAR
PAGASA also reported that Super Typhoon In-fa (2631) was located 2,935 kilometers east of Northern Luzon as of 3 a.m., outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility.
The cyclone has maximum sustained winds of 185 kilometers per hour near its center and gusts of up to 230 kph. It was moving west-northwestward at 30 kph.
Moderate seas over Luzon
Moderate winds from the northeast are expected over Luzon, where coastal waters will be moderate, with wave heights of 1.5 to 2.5 meters.
The rest of the country will experience light to moderate winds from the northeast to north, with slight to moderate coastal waters and wave heights ranging from 0.6 to 2.1 meters.
In Metro Manila, sunrise is expected at 5:51 a.m. and sunset at 5:29 p.m. The moon is expected to rise at 9:21 p.m. and set at 9:53 a.m., with 75% illumination.
PAGASA advised the public to monitor its official website and weather bulletins for updates.
