MANILA— Several areas across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao may experience scattered to widespread rains and thunderstorms on Saturday due to the shear line and easterlies, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.
In its 4 a.m. weather forecast on November 7, PAGASA said cloudy skies with scattered to widespread rains and thunderstorms are expected in Aurora, Quezon, and Camarines Norte due to the shear line.
Similar conditions are forecast over Eastern Visayas, Central Visayas, Caraga, the rest of the Bicol Region, Marinduque, Romblon, Misamis Oriental, Camiguin, and Davao Oriental due to the easterlies.
PAGASA warned that moderate to at times heavy rains in these areas could trigger flash floods or landslides.
Meanwhile, Cagayan Valley, Apayao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, and Ifugao may experience cloudy skies with light rains due to the northeast monsoon, while the Ilocos Region and the rest of the Cordillera Administrative Region may have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains.
Metro Manila and the rest of the country are expected to have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms. Severe thunderstorms may also trigger flash floods or landslides.
PAGASA said the northeast monsoon is affecting Northern and Central Luzon, while the shear line is affecting the eastern section of Southern Luzon. Easterlies are influencing the rest of the country.
As of 3 a.m., a tropical depression outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility was located 2,540 kilometers east of Northern Luzon, near 18.5°N, 145.7°E.
The weather disturbance has maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 70 kph. It was moving west northwestward at 30 kph.
PAGASA also forecast moderate to strong northeast winds over Northern Luzon, with moderate to rough coastal waters measuring 1.5 to 3.7 meters.
The rest of Luzon may experience light to moderate northeast winds and slight to moderate coastal waters of 0.6 to 2.5 meters. Similar wind conditions are expected over Visayas and Mindanao, with winds coming from the northeast to east and coastal waters ranging from 0.6 to 2.1 meters.
