MANILA — Taylor Swift topped this year’s American Music Awards nominations with eight nods, including artist of the year, song of the year for “The Fate of Ophelia,” and album of the year for “The Life of a Showgirl,” organizers said.

The pop superstar, who holds the record for the most AMA wins in history, previously received six nominations in the past year’s edition.

Close behind Swift are Sabrina Carpenter, Olivia Dean, SOMBR, and Morgan Wallen, each earning seven nominations. Carpenter is also competing for artist of the year, while Dean and SOMBR received their first AMA nominations, including for new artist of the year.

Meanwhile, BTS earned three nominations, including artist of the year, song of the summer for “Swim,” and best male K-pop artist. The group recently returned from hiatus and released the album “Arirang” last month.

Also among the nominees are the voice cast behind Netflix’s Oscar-winning animated musical KPop Demon Hunters. EJAE, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami received nominations for song of the year, best vocal performance, and best pop song for “Golden.”

A win in any category would mark the group’s first American Music Award.

Winners will be decided through fan voting and announced at a live ceremony hosted by Queen Latifah in Las Vegas on May 25. The show will air live on CBS and Paramount+.

Organizers said nominations were based on performance across Billboard charts, streaming data, album sales, radio airplay, and social media engagement.
