
MANILA – San Miguel Corporation (SMC) returned PHP1.43 trillion, or about 95 percent of its PHP1.5 trillion in total revenues in 2025, to suppliers, employees, investors, communities and the government, according to its latest Sustainability Report.
The company said the amount represented the bulk of the economic value generated by its operations, which it said helped support businesses, employment, government revenues and economic activity across the country.
Based on the report, around PHP995 billion was spent on suppliers and operating expenses, while PHP221 billion went to taxes and other government payments. Another PHP153 billion was allocated to investors and shareholders, PHP58 billion to employee salaries and benefits, and PHP560 million to community development programs.
SMC also reported a core net income of PHP79.6 billion, which it said would support future growth and investments.
“At San Miguel, creating value goes well beyond financial performance. Our job is not just to provide quality food and beverage products, and access to everyday necessities such as power, fuel and infrastructure. Our bigger mission is to help sustain our economy and create the conditions needed to ensure more Filipinos have jobs and opportunities that can uplift and sustainably improve their lives,” SMC Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Ramon S. Ang said.
The report also highlighted the company’s operational, environmental, social and governance initiatives.
SMC said its operating assets include 5,710 megawatts of energy capacity, 225 kilometers of expressways, a fuel refining capacity of 180,000 barrels per day in Bataan, and an annual cement production capacity of 17.5 million metric tons.
On environmental efforts, the company reported planting 8.14 million trees through reforestation programs nationwide and conserving 58 billion liters of water since 2017 through desalination, recycling, reuse, conservation and rainwater harvesting initiatives.
It also said its Better Rivers PH program, launched in 2020, has removed 8.95 million tons of silt and waste from major rivers and river systems.
According to the report, SMC’s volunteer programs reached more than 200,000 individuals nationwide, with 4,298 employee volunteers contributing 65,415 hours across about 600 activities.
The company also said its workforce expanded to 59,117 employees in 2025, with about 64 percent based outside Metro Manila.
Under its governance initiatives, SMC reported that all directors and officers completed corporate governance training, climate risk assessments were conducted across all major operating assets, the company obtained 282 internationally recognized certifications, recorded zero data breaches during the year, and screened nearly 200 suppliers based on their environmental, social and governance (ESG) performance.
