MANILA – Heavy to intense monsoon rains are expected over parts of Luzon on Tuesday as the Southwest Monsoon (habagat) continues to affect Luzon and Visayas, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
PAGASA said Benguet, La Union, Pangasinan, Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, Batangas and Occidental Mindoro will experience monsoon rains, with possible flash floods and landslides due to heavy to intense rainfall.
Metro Manila, Ilocos Sur, Abra, Tarlac, Pampanga, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Laguna, Rizal, Oriental Mindoro and Antique will have occasional rains, with moderate to heavy rainfall that may also trigger flash floods and landslides.
The Negros Island Region, the rest of Luzon and the rest of Western Visayas will experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms.
The rest of the Visayas will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms, while Mindanao will experience similar conditions due to localized thunderstorms.
PAGASA warned that flash floods and landslides remain possible during severe thunderstorms.
Meanwhile, the Low Pressure Area (LPA) was estimated at 1,115 kilometers east of Northern Luzon as of 3 a.m. Tuesday. The agency said the LPA is being monitored based on all available data.
Moderate to strong winds from the southwest will prevail over the northern and western sections of Luzon, where coastal waters may reach 1.5 to 2.8 meters.
The eastern section of Mindanao will also experience moderate to strong winds from the south to southwest, with similar coastal conditions.
The rest of the country will have light to moderate winds and slight to moderate coastal waters.
